Nine U.S. citizens and illegal aliens, including two John Does, were charged in a federal crackdown on benefit fraud schemes in Massachusetts by ICE HSI New England and its partners.
The accused allegedly used stolen identities belonging to U.S. citizens from Puerto Rico to steal more than $1.1 million in taxpayer-funded programs — including SNAP, MassHealth and Social Security benefits.
