Under President Trump’s leadership, Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, Oracle, and xAI signed the Ratepayer Protection Pledge, agreeing to build, bring, or buy new generation resources and cover the cost of all power delivery infrastructure upgrades required for their data centers, ensuring such expenses are not passed to American households.
This is a much better plan than what Oregon has been doing. Instead of just forcing the AI data centers to eat the excess cost on an already overtaxed electric grid infrastructure, it call for the AI data centers to build power stations to power the AI data centers where excess power can be diverted into the power grid making it more stable and efficient.
