ICE Homeland Security Investigations broke up a deadly human smuggling operation that trafficked over 500 people and tragically cost the lives of many.
A federal judge has now sentenced the mastermind behind the ring, Erica Aracely Carmona, to 11 years in prison and ordered her to pay nearly a million dollars for her heinous crimes.
Special agents discovered she purchased a trailer to transport illegal aliens, in a scheme that generated over nearly $5 million in illicit gains in just a year and a half.
