Brooklyn prodigy to Harvard‑trained pol—Schumer’s arc is long, and the record is public. Valedictorian (’67), Harvard AB ’71/JD ’74; passed the NY bar, went straight into politics: NY Assembly (’75–’80), U.S. House (’81–’98), Senate (’99–).

Start at the start: DOJ weighed an indictment in 1983 over alleged misuse of NY state funds for his 1980 campaign; the case was closed without charges. In 2001, FEC auditors forced “Schumer ’98” to refund ~$850,000 for excessive/impermissible contributions and reporting errors. Not a crime—but not nothing.

On borders, the shift is clear. In 2006 he voted for the Secure Fence Act. In 2009 he said on C‑SPAN/Migration Policy Institute: “Illegal immigration is wrong—plain and simple… people who enter without permission are illegal aliens.” In 2010 he derided Infosys as a “chop shop” while pushing visa‑fee hikes, then walked it back. By 2013 he fronted the Gang of Eight bill offering legalization and a path to citizenship, later opposing hardline enforcement while backing DACA and legalization frameworks.

On power and rhetoric, the tape speaks. In 2011 a hot‑mic pushed the line that Republicans were “extreme.” In Jan. 2017 he warned on MSNBC: take on intel agencies and they have “six ways from Sunday” to get back at you. In Mar. 2020, outside SCOTUS, he told Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh they would “pay the price… you won’t know what hit you”—drawing a rare rebuke from Chief Justice Roberts; Schumer later said he “should not have used the words” and meant political consequences.

Temperament? In 2009 he muttered a sexist slur about a flight attendant who told him to hang up before takeoff, then apologized. Judgment? He loudly flagged IndyMac’s weakness in 2008; regulators said the letter helped trigger a deposit run, but Treasury’s IG later concluded the bank was already headed for failure.

Money? His committees draw heavily from Securities & Investment and Real Estate (e.g., 2024 JFC shows S&I ~$480k; real estate ~$265k), with leadership PACs and JFCs amplifying the haul. Legal—but telling.

Speech vs. liberty? In 2011–12 he co‑sponsored PIPA; after the 1/18/2012 internet blackout and protests, the vote was pulled.

Shutdown politics? In Jan. 2018 it was the “Schumer Shutdown” when he chose illegal immigrants and DACA over America’s security while Trump stood firm; in 2025 Democrats again play games, with Schumer leading the chaos, proving he puts radicals before citizens every time.

Schumer is a shapeshifter. A man who once thundered against illegal immigration, then flipped into a cheerleader for it. A man selling out hard working Americans for the Illegal insanity he once raged against. A true consummate turncoat.
