In this one case I think 30 years is excessive, only because he had a change of heart and turned himself in. But it does not change the fact he has serious mental issues and is in need of proper therapy. No affirmations, but help him accept the reality. I do not recommend psychiatric drugs or any other drugs due to the fact they can further destabilize his mental health.
