Silvana Garza Valdez and Maria Paula Zarate, both 19 and both Camp Mystic counselors, saved around 20 girls during the Texas flood.

After realizing the severity of the rain, Silvana and Maria calmed the terrified children down and wrote their names on their bodies in case they were swept away.

According to a small news outlet, the two teen girls spent hours moving children to higher ground as the cabin structure became unsafe due to rising water levels while waiting for evacuation.
