A Prayer for the Little Ones Lost in Texas

Father,

Our hearts are broken.

The waters rose fast.

The flood came suddenly.

And the little ones were swept away.

We cry out for the girls who didn’t make it home.

For the parents waiting by phones.

For the families trapped in the darkest night of their lives.

You saw every moment.

You know every name.

You held each one as the waters rushed in.

For the ones You carried Home

let them feel no fear, only Your arms.

For the ones still missing

send angels to lead rescuers. Let them be found alive. Let there be a miracle.

And for every mother, father, sister, and brother left behind

hold them up when they can’t stand.

Let them scream if they need to scream.

Let them weep in Your presence.

And let them know You are close.

You said, “Let the little children come to Me.”

And we know You meant it.

So we give You their names.

We give You our pain.

We ask You to move in power, in mercy, in love.

Cover that Texas camp with peace that doesn’t make sense.

Speak life where there is still life.

And let this tragedy turn hearts to You.
